Feel the Korean food – Ganjang gejang(간장게장) & Yangnyeom gejang(양념게장)

Hello, Im Coko

Today, I will introduce the one of famous Korean cuisines to you guys.

Many Koreans have a huge fan of this food, and It says “The rice would be gone so fast with only sauce of this food” which is “Bap doduk(Rice thief)” in Korea.

Let’s take a trip to Korean cuisine world !!!

What is Gejang ?

Gejang is a variety of jeotgal, salted fermented seafood in Korean cuisine, which is made by marinating fresh raw crab either in ganjang(soy sauce) or in a sauce based on chili pepper powder. The term consists of two words, ge meaning “a crab”, and jang which means “condiment” in Korean.

Yesterday, I saw the Korean cuisine show, there was Gejang special on the air. So I decided to eat it today. 😀

Finally, I went to the restaurant nearby my house for eating Gejang. I ordered Gejang with soy sauce and chili pepper.

Plus, The Gejang is salted, fermented seafood, so that you have to order the rice. Keep it in mind !

This is Ganjang gejang(간장게장), which is salted with soy sauce. Actually, the rice mixed with this soy sauce tastes really nice. Just put the rice into back shell, mix together and dig in 😀

This is called as “Yangnyeom Gejang”. It is a little spicy. so you eat the rice then squeeze out then dig in !

I badly wanted to eat “Ganjang jejang”, but Yangnyeom gejang was much better in restaurant.

How about you? Which one you prefer to eat?

Welcome to Jeolla province !

Gyeongsang, Jeolla, and Jeju island are famous for their own characteristic gejang. but I strongly recommend you go to Yeosu, which is located in Jeolla province.

Look at this. What a best delicious food ever! When you visit to Yeosu, and eat Gejang, it comes with various side dishes like this.

There are many representative Korean food like Bulgogi, Bibimbap, but when you visit to Korea, try “Gejang” !

See ya !
